OUR STORY
A New Voice Among the Best Trumpet Brands
Macaluso Musical Instruments (MMI) – Where Passion, Precision, and Performance Come Together
Every great sound starts with a story — and ours begins with one musician’s belief that trumpets could do more. At Macaluso Musical Instruments, we design each horn to rival the best trumpet brands for the players who hear possibilities in every note.
Why is the Macaluso B-Flat Trumpet Rising Among the Best Trumpet Brands?
Our founder, Chuck Macaluso, is a lifelong trumpet player and an engineer who never stopped asking, “Why not?” He knows what makes great horns sing and what makes players fall in love with their sound. That blend of artistry and innovation is what sets us apart among the world’s best trumpet brands today.
Our B-flat trumpet will soon be on the lips of every great horn player because we know what matters to serious musicians:
- Sound that connects – rich, resonant, and full of color
- Precision you can feel – every valve smooth, every note centered
- Craftsmanship that lasts – small-batch attention, not factory production

Chuck has always believed professional sound should be accessible, inspiring, and built to respond like an extension of the player’s breath. By merging modern machining with timeless craftsmanship, MMI has created a new generation of B♭ trumpets that strike a balance between warmth, clarity, and control.

What Makes the MMI Trumpet Better?
Every Macaluso trumpet carries the same spirit that started it all: curiosity, craftsmanship, and care. When you play one, you’re not just holding an instrument — you’re experiencing the result of decades of listening, testing, and refining what makes a trumpet truly great. Our story isn’t about being the biggest brand. It’s about being one of the best trumpet brands for musicians who value connection — between their breath, their horn, and their music.
While most companies mass-produce instruments designed for “good enough,” we craft, hand-fit, acoustically test, and refine each trumpet until it feels alive in the hands. Our horns don’t just play, they communicate. We don’t accept the old version of “good enough,” nor do we chase trends. We chase excellence — the kind that inspires confidence in every performance.
When brass players compare the best trumpet brands, Macaluso stands out for several key reasons:
- Musician-made by people who play, not just a company that produces
- Player-friendly design eliminates lip fatigue
- Perfectly tuned across 3+ octaves
- Unmatched tone clarity for flawless performance
- Impeccable craftsmanship for superior acoustic quality
My name is Ron Glynn. I earned a bachelor’s degree in trumpet performance from Western Illinois University and a master’s degree in the same discipline from Northwestern University. I began playing at age 6, and my background in playing trumpet includes orchestral and solo playing, and an extensive history of playing lead in big bands and jazz groups. I worked at Schilke Music Products for over 17 years, producing more than 20,000 trumpet bells. I started my shop doing brass instrument repairs and building trumpets.
I was commissioned by Mr. Macaluso to produce the tail bend of a trumpet bell of new acoustic design, and to install the new bell on an existing S/N 001 trumpet. After doing the work, I did a complete test of the instrument, using a 1966 standard weight medium large bore Bach Stradivarius Model 37, which I have owned and played for 25 years. Because of the acoustic design work Mr. Macaluso has undertaken, the full potential of a Bb piston-style trumpet has been realized. Simply put, the superior acoustic design of the Macaluso trumpet makes it much easier to play and more accurate than any other trumpet that I have ever played. It simply performed at a much higher level in every style and setting.
Who Can Play a Macaluso Trumpet?
We made the Macaluso B♭ Trumpet with the professional musician first and foremost in our minds. That’s because their standards for perfection and the demands they place on themselves as players are so high; we had to start at the top.
But we achieved something even more special — an instrument that sounds better than other trumpets with less strain on the musician. What that means is that the MMI Trumpet is optimal for any musician for all the ways they express themself, from the stage to the studio, classroom to club, and everywhere in between:

Performing Artists who live for the spotlight and need a horn that projects their sound with confidence and grace.

Recording Artists who want a tone that translates flawlessly under microphones and blends beautifully in the mix.

Brass Enthusiasts who appreciate the craftsmanship, feel, and resonance of a handmade instrument built with precision and care.

Trumpet Teachers who demonstrate every day that consistency, tuning, and reliability matter as much as tone.

Student Prodigies whose natural talent deserves a horn that can grow with their skill and ambition.
Each design decision serves one goal: helping players at every level experience the joy of a truly responsive, resonant instrument. Learn about our Musicians.
